I have a CycleOps PowerTap hub on my road bike. I tried to see how many watts I could generate last night on my trainer for a 30 second interval and could only manage 512 watts. I did have a peak of 650 watts. I need to dive into this more and talk with my coach about what this really means. I think there is a better measurement when you take your weight into consideration and get watts per kilogram.
The Lama Chronicles is about my quest to become an endurance athlete in the sport of mountain biking. I will discuss what it is like to be 49 year old and try to incorporate all the necessary training required to be competitive in the NUE (National Ultra Endurance) Series as well as being a husband and father of 3 that owns 2 small businesses in Michigan. Lama is my nickname, it was bestowed on me by some of the best friends a guy could have and it is short for "Dalai Lama".

Power & Watts, I suck...
I came across this table about wattage. It was developed by Dr. Allen Lim and it outlines what kind of watts different riders are capable of putting out. So, if you have a watt meter on your bike you can compare yourself and really feel bad about how lame we really are.
